The Need for Speed in Healthcare

Clinic managers and doctors require instantaneous access to patient data, public directories, and clinical guidelines. A slow-loading page doesn't just hurt the user experience; it slows down critical care.

To ensure our platform scales globally while delivering instant responses, we recently upgraded the Medizys architecture from a standard static export to Next.js Edge Server-Side Rendering (SSR).

What is Edge SSR?

Traditional server-side rendering processes requests in a centralized data center. By moving rendering to the Edge via Cloudflare, we execute code on servers physically closest to the user (the clinic or patient).

This upgrade allows us to utilize Next.js advanced features:

  • Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR): Public pages like our Blog and Specialty Directories now update seamlessly without rebuilding the entire application.

  • Partial Prerendering (PPR): We can cache the static shell of a page at the edge while streaming personalized dynamic content (like a user's authentication state) via Suspense boundaries.
  • The Impact on Operations

    For clinic administrators, this means:

By embracing Edge SSR, Medizys continues to push the boundaries of healthcare technology, ensuring that software never gets in the way of patient care.
